BOAT RENTAL
Do you enjoy life on
the ocean waves? Why not discover the amazing wild world in
the Straits of Gibraltar, cruise up the coast or go out to sea for
the day. See whales and dolphins in their Mediterranean sea
environment. Go windsurfing. Sip champagne served to you by highly
experienced crews or parasail above the waters behind a speed boat.
It's all happening off the beaches of the Costa del Sol.

MARKETS
There
are a great number of street markets throughout the Costa
del Sol and every one is different. Many markets
combine flea markets and boot sales where bargains can be
had. Apart from the usual tourist trappings, good buys
within Andalucia include linen, ceramic ware, leather
goods and hand-made jewellery.
Locally produced furniture is plentiful and very original.
The closeness of Morocco dictates that there are plenty of
stalls selling authentic Arabic wares such as pottery,
metalwork and leather goods. Antiquities and such like
are also to be found.
|
Marbella |
Every Monday morning, ground close to the Car
sales showroom area (poligono). |
|
Puerto Banus |
Every Saturday, market with car boot sale near
the bullring, at the top end of the old town. A
large affair with a wide range of goods on offer,
especially antiques. The stalls spread in all
directions. Be prepared for parking problems
around the site; it's far better to park at the bottom
end of the town near the N340 and walk up (10 minutes).
Lots of places to eat and drink around the market but
becomes very busy at times. |
|
San Pedro Alcantara |
Every Thursday, market in the Divina Pastora
District at the top end of the town. Quite a walk
from the N340. There is parking near the market but can
be a challenge. Reasonable sized market with
clothes, shoes, fresh produce and the usual tourist
stalls. |
|
Las Chapas |
Every Friday, market at la Vibora area. |
|
Mijas Costa |
Every Wednesday & Saturday,
street market at
La Cala de Mijas. |
|
Estepona |
Every Wednesday, market in town centre. Large and
well organised with a great variety of stalls. Limited
parking nearby; you need to get there early. Nowhere
nearby for food and drink, you need to walk into the
town towards the sea. Sundays, around the
small port. Very tourist orientated but nice on a warm
day alongside the water. Lots of bars around the
market to eat and drink - all very English.
|
|
Sabinillas |
Every Sunday, market and car boot sale, alongside
the N340 highway. Very large but disorganised.
Late starter but bargains galore of every description.
Parking is very bad and by 10.30am the local police
cordon off many of the roads. Try parking in the
Supersol car park or along the sea front and walking
500m. Good Moroccan and Indian items plentiful. Nearby
bars become packed very quickly. Every Friday, in
the town, small local market. |
|
LaLinea |
Every Wednesday, market close to the Gibraltar
border. Massive and well organised. Every kind of
bargain imaginable. Plenty free parking nearby. Few
places for refreshments nearby. |
|
Casares |
Every Friday, market but only five or six stalls,
mainly fruit and clothes. Parking non-existent. Walk
into the town square for refreshments - very Spanish.
Hardly any English spoken. |
|
Fuengirola |
Saturdays and Tuesdays at Recinto Ferial
(fair site). Hardly any parking nearby but the market is
of huge proportions and sells everything. Watch for
pick-pockets and time share touts at the entrance
(ignore any special offers of prizes etc). Don't drink
at the cafe near the entrance unless you drink pints
(that's all they will sell you). A very English affair.
Sundays around the port area. |

Malaga Central Market: Atarazanas |
Opening hours 8.00 - 14.00, Monday - Saturday
Fish, meat, cheese, and fruit and vegetables: all
fantastically fresh and at the best prices. The fish
section in particular is a visual and olfactory feast.
Definitely the place to come if you want to impress
dinner guests with giant prawn and lobster-like
creatures or if you're thinking of making a
twenty-person paella!
A great place to have lunch after you've bought up
half the Mediterranean is in "El Bar de los Pueblos",
opposite the market to the left as you face the main
entrance. It's a prawn-head on the floor sort of place,
where white-shirted waiters shout and barge their way
round with authority. Good, filling menus and very cheap
tapas and raciones. |

SHOPPING

Shopping centres, or centros
commerciales, comprise dozens of shops and services on various
levels along with a multi-cine (cinema complex) and the usual
fast-food outlets. Some are well designed: light and airy with
high glass ceilings and with plants and art exhibitions others are
full-on, shop-till-you-drop Meccas with blaring music, glaring
lights and tunnel-like walkways. View

THE HIDDEN JEWEL OF MARBELLA, CABOPINO ~ MEANING PINE CAPE
Situated on the coastal road (N340) between Fuengirola and
Marbella, close to the popular area of Calahonda on the Costa Del Sol, Cabopino is a stylish holiday resort,
with a small, romantic harbour and an average of
330 days of sunshine makes it the perfect holiday destination
any time of year!
The Costa Del Sol has many beaches to offer with high standards
and services which are recognised by the EU under the Blue Flag
system. Many of the beaches feature 'Chirringuitos' (small
open air bars and restaurants) with good quality and good value
menus that usually include fresh fish.
Cabopino Beach
From the main road a forest of pine trees follow you right down
to the sand dunes along the beach, where an old fortified
watchtower still stands proudly. From this privileged
position it is possible to see along the coast to Marbella and
Gibraltar and on a very clear day Africa beyond. Parking
is easy and close to the beach.

Cabopino has some high quality beach bars and sun beds and
parasols are available at a small charge (Approx 4 euros).
The beach is safe and child friendly and the sand is clean and
well maintained.
Lifeguards are on duty throughout the summer season.
Cabopino
Marina

Cabopino has a very pretty port with a small boatyard.
With attractive architecture and choice of restaurants it is not
to be missed. Small and tranquil it may be, but Cabopino
Marina has an evening buzz that is hard to miss.
Enclosed
in a beautiful residential area, it has 169 berths ranging from
8 to 16 meters long. The marina is open all year round
(although some activities are only available from Easter to
October)
A
wide range of activities are available at the marina including
boat chartering or trimaran and dolphin trips, para-gliding and
scuba diving. Hire of jet skis, banana boats and ringos
are also available. There is a fully stocked and equipped marina
and water sports shop on site.
Fishing is permitted on the sea wall.
